Reading/Language Arts

This week third grade has been taking the Unit 1 Benchmark test. These tests assess how well the students are applying the vocabulary, comprehension, phonics, and grammar skills that have been taught in the first five lessons. Please look for the results in next week's take home folder.

The lesson 5 weekly assessment scores have been included in the the take home folder.

Math

Third graders have been subtracting with regrouping using the standard algorithm. This can be a difficult concept for third graders. Any extra practice that can be provided at home would be beneficial to the students. 

Science

Students are learning about balance and unbalance forces. The class has also learned about the force of friction and gravity.

Book Order

A book order has been included in the take home folder. Orders can be submitted online at www.scholastic.com/bookclubs using the code GRHFQ or returned to school (checks made payable to Scholastic Book Clubs) by Friday, October 12th.

Mass

Third grade is in charge of the mass on Wednesday, October 10th. Parts for the mass have been included in this week's take home folder. If your child has a speaking part, please have them practice at home. Parents are welcome to join us for the liturgy beginning at 9:15 AM.
