Math
Third grade will continue to work on multiplication in Chapter 5. Students will use the multiplication facts to describe patterns, find unknown facts, and using multiplication strategies with multiplies of 10.

Included in the take home folder is a copy of the first "timed" test that third graders took. I timed up, so I could see how long it took to complete the one hundred basic facts. Please continue to practice the basic facts at home. The timed tests let you know what basic facts need some additional practice.

Reading/Language Arts
This week third grade students took the Unit 3 Benchmark Test. Results will be sent home next week.

The results of the lesson 16 weekly assessment have been included in the take home folder.

The class also started lesson 16 in the reading series. The stories being read are "Judy Moody Saves the World" and "My Smelly Pet" written by Megan McDonald. The weekly assessment and spelling post test will be taken on Thursday, January 23rd.

Science
Third grade will have a test over plant and animal life cycles on Tuesday, January 21st. Please look for a study guide to come home on Friday.

S.O.S
This semester third grade will have a S.O.S (Student of Service) student in our classroom. This is a requirement for Creston High School seniors to graduate. Payton Burg will be in our classroom every other day.

Students will get together with their Angel and make valentine cards for service men and women. There is NO mass on this Wednesday. Thursday, January 30th is workout day. The school will spend the day at the YMCA. Students will need swim suits and a towel as well. Students should also bring a sack lunch with a drink. Friday, January 31st is dress up day.
