Math
Third grade students will have the chapter 4 test on Monday, January 28th. Students will take the basic facts test next week.

The next concept the students will work on is division.

Reading/Language Arts
This week third grade is reading the informational text called "The Mystery of the Albertosaurus." The comprehension skill focused on drawing conclusions. The vocabulary strategy covered the suffix -ly (meaning in a certain way). Students also worked on the /j/ and /s/ sound in words. Students also worked on words that followed the VCCCV pattern. In grammar students continued to work with adjectives. Students used adjectives to compare by adding-er, ier, -est, and -iest, or by adding more or most before the adjectives.

Due to snow days, the spelling post test and weekly reading assessment will be taken on Wednesday, January 30th. Thursday and Friday will be spent reviewing concepts and on a writing project.

The lesson 16 weekly assessment results have been included in the take home folder.

St. Malachy Foundation Dinner and Auction
The annual foundation dinner and auction will take place on Saturday, March 2nd at the Supertel Inn in Creston. Donations are still needed for the third, fourth, and fifth grade car basket for the live auction. Please contact Kathy Ralston, Heidi Rohrig, or Cali Purdum if you have any questions about the basket. Monetary donations are also needed for the third grade silent auction. A note was sent home in last week's take home folder pertaining to this. Please contact Michelle Wagner, Tiffany Ossian, or Kathy Ralston with any questions about the silent auction item.
