Science
Third grade continues to learn about animal life cycles in science. Students have identified the major steps in the life cycle of animals. Students are also learning about animals that go through a metamorphosis during their life cycle.

Math
Students continue their work with multiplication. Students have been introduced to a variety of properties (Commutative, Identity, Distributive, and Associative) to help in solving multiplication problems. Please practice multiplication fact fluency at home. There are many workbooks to purchase, flashcards, and online resources for extra practice.

Reading/Language Arts
Third grade read the humorous fiction story "The Extra Good Sunday" from Ramona Quimby-Age 8. The comprehension skill focused on understanding characters through traits, motivations, and feelings. The vocabulary strategy covered using a thesaurus. Students also continued working on r-controlled vowels. The grammar skill focused on verb tense (present, past, and future).

The lesson 15 weekly assessment results have been included in the take home folder.

Third grade has been taking the Unit 3 Benchmark Assessment. The results will be sent home next week.
