Science
The next topic the third grade class will be covering is force and motion.

Math
Unit 2 in math will begin to focus on specific factors in the process of multiplication. The factors that will be taught in unit 2 include 0, 1, 2, 5, 9, and 10. A variety of strategies will be taught for each factor. Practicing skip counting at home is a great way to practice for multiplication.

Reading/Language Arts
This week's story was an historical fiction story called Pop's Bridge by Eve Bunting. In this selection, Robert thinks his dad has the most important job in building the Golden Gate bridge as a skywalker. After a tragic accident on the bridge, Robert realizes that all of the jobs are just as important as the other. The comprehension skill focused on comparing and contrasting. Students worked on word families as the vocabulary strategy. The grammar skill the students worked on was common and proper nouns. Students worked on the long vowel sound of o using oa and ow.

The lesson three weekly assessment results have been included in the take home folder for parents to view.
